13 September marks six months since the first coronavirus announced in Ethiopia.In the half-year since then, reported cases are close to 64 Thousend, with more than 996 deaths.

At the onset, COVID-19 mainly affected the capital city. However, the virus is now moving from high-density urban areas to informal settlements and then onward to rural areas that have a lower population density.

A lot has changed since March 13. Back in January, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency, there were 0 cases in ethiopia and  fewer than 100 cases outside of China – and no deaths. Now, close to 29 million cases have been reported around the world, and more than 925,000 deaths.

During the first 2 months of Ethiopia’s COVID pandemic, the number of victims was low.  However, after a few months, the number of patients increased due to an increase in the number of patients being examined.

Let’s take a look at how the number of victims has increased in the progression of the pandemic since the first COVID-19 victim.

The first (COVID-19) case confirmed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The case, which was announced on the 13th of March 2020, is the first one to be reported in Ethiopia since the beginning of the outbreak in China in December 2019. Then the number of victims has risen to 11, bringing the total number of victims in Ethiopia to 12.

Until March 26, 2020, the number of victims was from Addis Ababa.  However, as of March 27, 2020, the pandemic had begun in the cities of the region. However, by the end of March, there were a total of 28 cases of COVID-19 in Ethiopia. However, the number of victims is increasing, not decreasing.  In early April, the number of victims increased slightly from the previous month.  The government has also increased the number of people being examined.  Following this, the number of victims increased from April 17, 2020, to the end of the month.

                                      Monthly Case Growth.

By the end of April, it had risen to a total of 137, according to Ethiopia. This represents an increase of 389.3% from the previous month.

Then the number of victims increased to 166 on May 6, 2020, .  Subsequently, in one day, 29 people were infected, and the number of COVID-19 victims reached 195.

Since then, unlike in previous months, the number of corona cases has increased in May.  This increase was predicted by government bodies before it happened.  According to the government, the number of cases of the virus in Ethiopia is expected to increase in June. However, the increase started earlier than expected. Then Since May 18, 2020, the number has increased.  At the end of this month, 737 victims were registered in Addis Ababa.  And it was a total of 1,175 at the end of May in Ethiopia. This indicates that the number of victims is increasing exponentially.  Compared to the percentage of victims registered at the end of May and at the end of April, the end of May shows an increase of 757.66% from the end of April.

Earlier, the government estimated that the number of victims would increase in June.  However, we note that the increase began in May.  the revival in May rose sharply in June.  This was due to the fact that in some parts of the country there was a lack of attention to the disease and political problems in the country.  However, from the day of the outbreak until May 21, the number of people who had recovered in Ethiopia had risen to 197. By the end of June, the number of victims had passed to 5,425. By the end of June, there had been more than 2,500 people recovering and more than 100 had died.  This shows that the number of victims increased by 361.7% by the end of May than at the end of June.

since the day the infection started to the end of July, the virus infection had reached > 15,800

people recovering > 6,700

deaths > 260 .As well as around the end of the year:-

Number of victims = > 35,719

People recovering = > 20,775

Deaths = > 897

This shows, from last month The number of victims increased by 125.9%, the number of people recovering by 210.1%, and the number of deaths by 245%.
